creating a login banner in windows

Login banners are used in the windows for displaying messages that user must agree to before using the system. You may want the users to abide by certain terms and conditions while using the official PC. These kings of messages may be displayed during the login of windows system.

In order to enable the login banner

GO to start--> Run --> type regedit --> Press enter

Go to following registry setting

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

1) Select “LegalNoticeCaption” from the right side of the screen --> right click--> click on modify--> In the “value data “field enter the heading or title for your message. This will appear on the top of windows that appears when the user login to the system as a heading.

2) Select “LegalNoticeText” from the right side of the screen --> right click--> click on modify--> In the “value data “field enter the text that you want to be displayed when a user login to the pc. This might be a simple message or a proper legal message.
Restart the Pc for the changes to take effect.

You can also use group policy editor on the domain controller to change registry setting on all the systems of your company so that you don’t need to go to individual computers to change this registry setting. You can schedule a restart of the company Pc in night after sending an email to all users for these changes to take effect.
