Add copy-move to folder option in windows right click context menu

Author:-Dinesh Aggarwal

Many tasks can be done using windows explorer's right-click context menu. I always wished to add some more options to that menu. One good windows XP/Vista trick is to add Copy To Folder" and "Move To Folder" Context Menu Options in the right click menu. In order to make it happen we need to make some changes in registry.

GO to start --> Run --> type regedit --> Press enter

Go to following registry setting

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

You will be able to see the following screen

regedit ContextMenuHandlers

Right click on ContextMenuHandlers and create a new key called Copy To as shown below.

regedit creating new key

When you create a key no value is set as shown below.

regedit key

Select “default” from the right side of the screen --> right click--> click on modify--> and set the value to {C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} as shown below.

Similarly create a new key called Move To and set the value to {C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} using the same procedure explained above.

Finally you will see a screen similar to the one shown below.

That’s it, you are done. Now if you right click a folder you will be able to see “Copy to Folder” and “Move to Folder” options as shown below.
